Dear Parent:
Summer reading provides an excellent opportunity for students to stay connected to books and continue practicing the reading skills they developed throughout the school year. In order to promote and inspire an enjoyment for reading, as well as ensure students to maintain their newly acquired literacy skills, children attending Brito Miami Private are required to complete a summer reading assignment. The instructions are as follows: two books from our list, or one from our list and one from the students choosing that is grade-level appropriate. Librarians are available throughout the summer at all area public libraries to assist with choosing books that best suit your child’s interest and reading level. During the first two weeks of school, the student will complete the attached form and summary which must be turned in to the English teacher and will count as a quiz grade. The assistant principal will acknowledge the assignments as well. We thank you for your commitment in ensuring reading as an enjoyable and purposeful part of your child’s summer and we hope to see you soon.
